That sounds like a good route, you will of course be negotiating The Mengel pass, you don't need a winch, if you really want you can move rocks to make the climb a little easier, be sure to leave the climb as you found it in case someone wants the challenge though. Have fun!

Would a winch have helped at Mengel pass?

I was thinking of a trip made like this:
- start from furnace creek
- artist's loop
- warm spring canyon
- butte valley rd
- goler/coyote wash
- ballarat
- pleasant canyon

Alessio, I always get this wrong, it's the Mengel Pass. You can get there from Death Valley via Warm Springs Valley, over the pass and in to Goler Wash to exit the Park. I have been over the pass twice, this shot is my second time, I got high sided, took me a couple of hours to get free. The wife was convinced we would be stuck there for days! I had me a cold beer at the Mengel monument at the top of the hill.

Hi is this Mengal or Mengel? I wish to visit that part of the DV this fall. Could you describe this trip, where you went, etc?
