That is what I added to my stock rack to install a Yakima cross bar. Once that was in place I used a Yakima Steelhead bike tray to carry 2 bikes up top. I have all the hardware if you are interested.

Look like a good solution. I can't find a picture of my Yakima bar attachment but will continue to look.
