FJ Cruisers of Northern California

A friend of ours purchased an xterra, I promised to take them out for a little off road excursion if they got a capable 4wd. I don't want to take them in over their heads but I also what them to be somewhat challanged. How capable is a stock Xterra?

Do they have any form of traction control or lockers? I was thinking of taking them to blackwood canyon up by tahoe...let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I almost bought an Xterra glad I waited but yes they are as capable as a stock FJ
after hanging out with the xterra guys at last years WAMP run, I was impressed by their capabilities. Of course, most were moded.
Avoid Snake lake trail ~!!! LOL

Having said that they are pretty good off road. There is even an Xterra guy who did a SAS this year.. OPG has seen it and he say its cool.. Use your head and you should be fine..

Beside you have a winch in case..
The Xterra's can go anywhere a stock FJ can. Especially if it's the Off-Road package since that one does have a E-locker. The non-off road packages don't.

I've done a few runs now with the Xterra's and they are good rigs, your friend will have fun with it.
I loved my X-terra, the only thing that id say the FJ has that the X-terra didn't is speed and power.
