Before SNT I had my local mechanic install the 1 1/4' spacers on my already lifted front end. The purpose behind it was because my front end was sagging a little. When I returned home from SNT i looked under the rig and saw this. Did my mechanic forget to install something or did my shock break. It's like this on both sides. See attached photo!

I would say he forgot to install the lower retaining washer and rubber. there should be washer to keep the shock from extending up. someone else may be able to shed more light on this
Yup your local mechanic done fcuked up! tell him he's fired...

I was thinking the same thing! Do you think its possible by hitting a bumb hard enough that the retaining washer slipped past the collar on the shock?
the washer would be mangled up.... He placed them incorrectly. I am surprised you did not notice the change in ride quality on the way up there. If he denies fault, get a second opinion from a different shop.
Let me know if you need a hand putting it back together, I wrench on many of the FJs around here...
Take it to BZ, he'll fix it for you...BZ for the win!!!
What a knucklehead, I guess the spacers did not come w/ instructions. Not that they would even be needed if he had a clue.
Hope you get it sorted out, let us know what happens.
Just got back from 4 wheel parts to have them look at it. Douche McBagginsworth the local mechanic forgot to install the lower retainer washers. My shocks are blown anyways. Ordered new shocks they will be in on Thursday, and 4 wheel parts is gonna install them for $80.00. Thanks for the offer BZ I appreciate it.
That guys should not be allowed to touch suspension IMO.. How in the hell do you miss that...
You have to pay for the shocks after they screwed up your install? Your shocks are probably blown because of 4WPs shady install.
No, no, no! 4wp didn't do the initial install. They are fixing the issue that someone else f'd up.
