I have no experience with enclosed trailers but I've seen a lot of jeep trailers. I've seen some great ones on craigslist over the past year.

Esty - thanks for posting this.  I have no experience with offroading trailers, but these look really cool.  Another something for the wish list!

first i've heard of the Moby...looks pretty sweet. anyone know if these enclosed off-road trailers are insulated? as gringo said, Dale's got a cool one, although i don't think it is fully off-road capable as of yet.

I know the AT teardrop is definitely insulated and from what I have heard it is very warm! AT even has an additional propane heater (unit is outside the trailer) for more extreme situations.

Lots of info out there. I personally have a M416 which I love.  One Day Moab and I are going to paint it and make it look cool. I also want to put a RTT on there for solo camping trips. I love this little trailer and I have used the hell out of it. I have put over 3000 lbs of cold patch in it. For a 1/4 ton trailer that a lot of damn weight.  On the trail I am amazed by the fact that it will track right behind me perfectly . SO basically where my rear wheels go the trailer will follow so its almost not a thought. I have lots of plans for mine but since I also use it as my main dump run trailer I have been holding off.

The adventure trailers are damn nice but also come with a nice price tag. I know most that has had one has loved it! I think the real sweet spot of the AT's are the independent suspension with the air bags.. This is real nice on the trail and also give you the ability to level the trailer out when you stop to set up camp. These guys have put alot of time into the design and are always improving something.  Best way to get one is to find one used. Price is a little better and most people seem to take care of them.

 

Of course you can always buy an M416 and build somehting yourself. there are lots of threads out there and lots of ideas.

 

Never heard of the trail you mentioned. but I have seen several Tear dop designs that I thought were pretty cool and looked very well build.  Google "Tiny camper" and there is a great little place back mid west that makes a damn good little trailer.

Hey Boss! Thanks for the info.....I had actually seen the "Tiny Campers" before and they look pretty neat, they even have an offroad model with larger tires and all. The only issue with their off road model is that it doesn't have a full galley in the back, you only get half of it...the other half is for your feet :-P. 

 

They had a more agreeable pricepoint though.

Another option worth mentioning is the company that makes the teardrop for AT:

They have a "Krawler" model that look much like the AT one, The pricing is difficult to compare but it looks like you get more bang for your buck with the socalteardrop trailer...you probably just don't get the fancy AT suspension and more "unique" upgrades.
