One of my buddies has kind of set up a Group Buy on a titan winch, the 12k version. it'll come with synthetic rope and if we get people then the price will be 560 each!

Total weight will be about 65lbs.

Post up here if there is any interest as i know a few of us are in need of good winches

That page mike Oliver posted says 4 something lol I would really want a winch tho

this GB will come with synthetic line which is better and more lightweight than the normal woven steel cable. hence the slightly higher price over normal

ahhh ok.  Good to know. =D

Alright! Here is the link to the GB that a buddy and me are hosting on the TW forum!!

I am the buddy who helped him decide to contact Duncan for this group buy! I am in for this group buy officially! As well as officially being a member of the Norcal FJ forum! See you guys on the trail!

aww man.. thats a good deal.  Cant afford that and replacing my MT bumper at the same time =(

Also check out this Warn winch for $479.99

http://www.warnfactoryoutlet.com/Winches/Entry-Level-Series/Warn-VR...

Warn has come out with a line of less expensive winches (the VR series, vs the older and more expensive M series) in order to compete with Smittybilt and all the other brands whose winches are made in China.  The VR8000 is currently on sale for $479.99 (reg $539.98).  The synthetic line version goes for $645 -- not cheap, but definitely not bad for synthetic!

That vr8 is a good deal but the Titan is similarly priced and comes with a dyneema 3/8" line (similar to the amsteel blue winch line) and comes with a 550 amp Thompson solenoid which is sealed against the elements...aside from being rated at 12000 lbs. in addition the Titan winch from Duncan is rated at 6.6 hp compared to the 4.8hp of the vr8000. Duncan made the Titan line to compete with the higher end winches, not the entry level series so comparing the two might be unfair but impossible since the Titan has the characteristics and performance of a high end winch but the price of an entry level 8000 lb winch:) sorry for the rant, just want to make sure that details are said and all bases are covered:)

No prob... good to know.  I was just throwing another option out there since I recently discussed that particular Warn winch with someone.  I'm just starting to look into this stuff and a purchase is probably a ways off.  Some people staunchly swear by Warn, but I'm completely open to suggestion.  I would definitely prefer synthetic line, however.

Noproblem there:) I just wanted to make sure that people do not think this group buy is a load of crap! Another bonus, this tw12 is quicker and similar in size to the m8000..sometimes going heavy duty is the way to go! In fact, some of the people on the fjc forum have been running the older model tw12(different solenoid, the new 2012 version is better sealed and higher amperage) for 3 years or more!
