Yeah I am looking at tires right now also. I have the Nitto Trail Grappler 295 70R17 now but found them to be a little slippery on the granite. now looking at either going to a 16 inch rim with a 305 or 315 tire.... BFG, ProComp or the new Nitto tire. Just so many choices out there. prices for the tires all seem to be pretty much comparable.. by the way how is your Jeep buddy?

He's good! We just did slickrock two weeks ago. He didn't roll his jeep once! LOL! Seriously it was fun. Other than getting high centered on the gateway to the last obstical I pretty much cruised through, but that last climb still seems to require me to apply too much gas. I was dreaming of front lockers, gear swaps, inchworm lefty's, and 35" tires and then two jeeps just walked right up after me. Arggh! Darn jeeps. Of course the one I talked to had lockers front and rear and 4.88 gears, and two jeeps also needed trail side repairs ;-) . Anyway, I've been real happy with my Mickey Thompson MTZ tires but feel like I need just a little more clearance. Jim (jeep guy) loves his 33" pro-com extreme mud terrains and I've seen them crawl up all kinds of stuff with no spinning at all,where I go after him and spin with the same size tire... And no front locker... Hmm

I run a set of 285's and a set of 35's with a 1.5" body lift and it's no secret that I like to go fast. I had hoped the body lift would get rid of the inner fender rub/cracking but to no avail. If I'm in the rocks with the 35's I can definitely hear and feel rubbing both front and back under extreme articulation but that is slow speed and it doesn't worry me much. If I head to the desert the 285's are the ticket. Cant say for sure they don't hit in the front but if they do it's minimal. I think maybe a set of 34's may be a good compromise but that will have to wait to be tested till at least next year. Probably not exactly what you wanted to hear but any info is good info right?
BTW, I may have a Lefty available in the very near future if you are interested.

I sure would! Though it sounds like a bidding war is starting already. What are you thinking of letting it go for? As for tire size, I was looking at the Mickey Thompsons and noticed some of their 315s are 34.5 inches tall. Hmmm I thought... Do you feel the 35" tires give you much more elivation & climbing ability, or just look cooler? Also, are you still wearing stock fender flares, or did you rip them out? I have a nice set of BFG 285's that I bought for last winter and love them but they look dorky now with the lift & body lift.

I think bozly is running fiberglass fenders. The 35' do elevate u a bit but they do give you more rubbing issuse. I would recommend new uca and run higher caster that will help with some of the bm rub.

I chopped the body mount and put in new upper control arms and the body lift. My 305/75/16 MTZ were rubbing a little when I put on wheel spacers (initially to widen the stance with 285s) so I went back in and cut the body mounts deeper. No more rub. Bozly, you run 35's with your long travel, or on the other FJ? If so did you regear?

Well I did a pretty aggressive chop. I an even thinking of cutting the mount almost compleatly off and re fab something but for now next set of tires will be 285.70.R18 so a 34 untill I regear and do a lefty I won't run 35's maybe just stick with 34's yet I also will end up running lt front and rear
