I am in the market go buy a tent. I figure it's time to move out of the back of my truck and onto the ground, where there is more space. I've decided to go with REI, first of all because I have a 20% discount and a warranty of some sort.

I'm looking for a tent that fits what I am going to use it for. Since I am throwing it in the back of my truck, I am willing to give up light-weight for luxury. Something strong, wind-proof, relatively easy to set-up and if it looks cool, that's a plus.

What sort of tents do you guys have?

They all look pretty col. I have had real good luck with my Trecker tent from Calelas. Its not a 4 season tent by any means but its big enough for the family..

All the tent listed look real nice.. I know marmont is a pretty good name, as well as the REI stuff..

Boss
You should go to any mountain shop in redwood city is not as big as REI but wayyy cheaper
If you buy from REI, you could try it out and return it if you're not happy with it. Is it for car camping or backpacking? If it's for car camping you don't need to worry much about weight.
Hm... I was originally thinking about 2 person tents. But since i'm car camping, I may consider going for a 4 person tent.
its better to have more space then wish u bought the bigger one
I use an REI - Mountain 2 for work. It's a 4 season, 2 man tent. So far, so good. A lot of guys use 60 second tents you can get from wall mart and they replace them ever few years. They are cheap, quick and as long as you don't put any holes in them, waterproof. I used them for about 5 years and I think I went through 3 of them during that time. I probably stayed in it 35-60 days per year.

I guess it depends on what your plans are for it. If you plan on using it for a week in the snow and rain, I'd go with a 4 season, if your using it occasionally throughout the spring, summer, and fall go with a lesser expensive model.

I would look for something light weight, has a rain fly, isn't hard to set up and can accommodate you (and friends/family if needed) and gear.
bunch of guys on TT had the REI tent you showed, and LOVED it.

I'm rockin a 6 man sierra designs, or a 2 man north face.
I shop REI, they are more expensive but they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and the quality is good enough to last a couple years. I currently have 2 tents one big car camping tent, the REI Base Camp 4 that is close to 6 feet tall so I can stand up in, and a Mountain Hardware 2 person backpacking tent. The Base Camp takes longer to set up but it is huge and I like it for longer trips.

Check out these 2 as they are on sale thru next Sunday.

I really like the Base Camp 4. It's better than my hoodoo 2, the rei one that I showed
Are any tents 'windproof'?

We got a 5-person tent. Plenty of room for a queen sized inflatable mattress, clothes bags, Abbey, etc... We would not have liked anything smaller.
If you mean windproof enough for last years Pismo conditions..... then you'd need a 4 season/expedition tent but most are expensive and don't breath well in warmer climates.

Here are a couple examples....
