FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Thanks to 2007fj for allowing me to follow along the progress of this project and letting me be the first to get this disco (besides him and his brother). The workmanship and attention to detail is very obvious once you get one of these bad boys. He's a certified welder and is a welding inspector by trade, so he knows his stuff. Anyway, here's the write up...it's real quick since it doesn't take much time to disconnect it.

He's gone through a couple iterations, a two-side disco and a single side disco. He ended up settling on a single side for simplicity reasons. But I'll let him chime in or you can PM him for more info. It disconnects on the driver side.

First, remove two 3/4" bolts (torqued at 85 lbs.)

Second, swing away the disconnected part.

Third, remove pin at the link.

Fourth...you're now disconnected, lol

The other side of the sway bar has a heavy duty greasable link

Any technical questions about the welding methods and/or price, I'll have to defer to 2007fj.

Thanks
i got the full-on demo this afternoon. very impressed! i will have a display version available for viewing at the All-Cal Meet.
Question. The FJ is all metric, why use non-metric bolts for this?
All the bolts are zinc plated grade 10.9 metric.Studs are also high stregnth metric ??
well, daPitbull mentioned "First, remove two 3/4" bolts (torqued at 85 lbs.)"

another question: I've seen that stainless steel hardware is often less expensive than zinc (if you don't believe me go to Belmont Hardware or similar). Where's the trick? Is zinc plated stronger or something?
Ah. The nuts are 19mm or 3/4 standard. As far as stainless versus zinc goes. The zinc or zinc chromuim is a chemical bath the bolts go through for rust protection. What your really paying for is the grade of hardware.Hight stregnth hardware is more expensive and stronger than SS,
Oh thanks for the metallurgy mini-lesson :)

We are all waiting for the production run... :)
