I recently picked up a BajaRack flat rack to mount my Maggiolina roof top tent. I love the combo! The only issue is that because the flat rack is... well... flat, the awning hangs down pretty low. So low that I can't open the rear door all the way and still have the awning slanted to shed rain. Not to mention it looks like my teenage son's sagging pants, when he thinks I'm not looking.
I sent Luke at Fourtreks an email asking about this on a Sunday night and he responded within 10 minutes. We shot emails back an forth and he came up with a sweet design, that gives one flexibility on positioning the awning.
Here are pictures of the original and extended mounts, before & after side view, and before & after rear view. It's a much cleaner look and now I have room to mount lights AND fly rod holders below the awning.
