My roof has rusty stains from hi-jack and its mounts attached to roof rack. This is not rust on the roof, it is just stain from rusty water. Is there a way to clean those without risking paint damage ?

My experience is that it just wipes off with water and a rag. You can use some sort of spray detailer if you arent doing a full wash though.

if it has been on there awhile it my take some buffing if it has stained the paint. i had an issue with a rusty gutter dripping on my roof and it did not want to come off any other way.

You can try to polish it out. 3m perfect it is some of the best. You can't let it sit on there, it will dig into the paint.

Use water, rags and Bon Ami "hasn't scratched yet" and wont. Works great.
