Hi I have a possibly stupid question. I am considering new tires. I do not care too much about new rims (I would like them black but I could just paint them). Is there any reason why a new set of rims should be important? Yeah the looks but any functional value?

I think the only functional value you'd gain is if you went to 16" or beadlocks. But even changing to 16" only has a few advantages like more tire selections, typically less $$, and more sidewall when aired down. You can buy lighter wheels to lessen the unsprung weight on your rig too.

Btw, off topic, but your new avatar picture looks like one from the brady bunch, lol.

Now that little girl must be a grandma

I took that picture in the San Marino republic

The "stock" rims are 17" right?
There are 17" and 16" from the offroad package. The TRD wheels (like Bz's) are also 16". Yours are 16" from the offroad package.
you can always check the rim size on the side of your tires if your not sure.

LOL@ the Brandy bunch...
Yeah of course I have the size of my tires written here in front of me 265/75R16 ...
Painting the stock alloys is easy. The alloys my AT's are mounted on are painted and I think it looks very good.
I just need to buy a tool to sand them before painting.
sand it by hand.
boooring...
To much work just to get scratched up off road....clean all the road grime & dirt off and paint em, touch up as needed.
'Pit...nice try at Photoshop...that lil' kid is faked-in - he's not even looking at the camera like the others.

here's the original!

LMAO =) hahaha
