FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Yesterday I noticed that when I used the key fob to lock the FJ, there was no light flash accompanied by a beep. I did hear the lock fire twice (weird) with one lock button push but no light and no beep. I checked and it was locking and unlocking. The unlock button fires normally. I tried opening and closing the rear door and window this morning and making sure they both were closed completely.  Then it worked fine... this morning.  This afternoon, nada. The front 2 doors unlock and lock normally with beeps and flashing lights. The rear door is locked shut. Nothing I do will unlock it. I've tried the fob, the interior switch on both doors, and turning the key in the rear door. No luck. The rear window won't pop open either.  I don't hear the lock trying to function at all. I can't remove the interior door panel with the door being closed, plus I have the MPAC rack on the rear door which complicates things.  Is there a fuse that may be blown? A toasted relay? I can't find any info. I tried disconecting the battery for an hour but that didn't help. Any help? Pretty much exhausted all I know to do...

I am sure BZ could fix that with his hammer!

Just a shot in the dark.....I bet you have something jammed in there, like the rear cargo carpet or a squirrel.

Ha! Yeah I bet Bz could. don't think I have anything stuck. I do have a 295 Toyo Open country hanging on the door if that might be affecting things... I'll pull it off tomorrow to see if that helps.

check fuses

both in cab and engine bay

any idea which fuse deals with the rear door lock/window/wiper?

no, I recommend looking at the diagram on the inside of the fuse box's lids (both engine bay and cab) if that does not help start pulling until you find a burnt/blown fuse i wanna say it will most likely be a 10 or 15 (red or blue) fuse

I've looked at the lids. Guess I'll try all the fuses. Thanks.

All fuses look good... Frustrating.
Did you actually test the fuses? I have had fuses that look good test bad.
Uh no. Good point. I'll pick up a test or tomorrow. Any idea which fuse and relay controls the rear wiper, window, and lock?
Looks like a bad actuator for the rear door lock mechanism.
Fuses all test as good. Finally managed to remove the rear door interior panel despite the window being closed... First I tried using a mini side ratcheting screwdriver to pull the screws that hold the rear window D ring in place. Then the window could swing open. However the inner panel is still held up by the fact the latch is locked. So I just cut the plastic and pulled the panel off. Then hit the little lever (lock lever) under the plastic near the door latch and opened the door. Ahhhhhhh! So now I've gotta check the connections and actuator. Sooo, how do I check the actuator? I assume it's the orange box?
