FJ Cruisers of Northern California

So many of you have seen my rig and know i have quite few electricl "do-dads". I started with a simple 8 slot fuze block, but over the years more things were added and as a result, more single fuse holder were added on. This made for messy wiring and a lot of curits tapped into one another. So i felt it was time to start a re-wire. The only question was were to start and what kind of fuze block to use.

Many here know that I work in the emergency vehicle field and wire police, fire, and medical vehicles on a daily basis with all the emergency lighting and computer/camera equipment. at first i was going to design my own harness as i ussualy do for all my prodjects, but then i came upon a deal that i just couldn't refuse.

I came across a pre-made harness made by a company called patrol power. They specialise in making professional wiring harnesses for emergency vehicle applications. They make vehicle specific as well as universal applications. The harness i have is there universal model.  Just think of it as an SPOD on steriods.

Now for most this is absolute overkill and i don't recomend it for its cost by itself. I myself won't be using all of the avaible slots, but its nice to know i can add on electrical componets as i please. I'll keep everyone posted with updates as i begin the stripout of all the old wiring and fuse block as well as the install of the new harness. If you have any questions reguarding the harness or wiring just let me know. Thanks for looking.

Dude I think I have less wires on my house !! HEHEHEHE

Very cool, that thing is huge.. But I guess emergency cars and trucks need all that .

The wire harness alone scares the crap out of me!! hehehe

I did lot of reading over at ih8mud when I wired up the 80 and its just crazy what people are putting in their trucks nowadays. Crazy stuff tlike dual batteries and truple inveters and all kind of plugs and switches, I read lots of stuff and was amazed.. I wil be looking forward to the updates..

Cool find. I like that it has different gauges. Do keep us posted.

Ya, this is one heavy duty harness. Way overkill for most, but should fit my needs just fine. I'll keep everyone posted. Was hoping to start this weekend, but ended up getting post poned. Might start ripping out a old wiring and such this week and start the install next week if my schedule doesn't change.

 Update...

Harness is mounted and ran inside the FJ! I made sure to mount it as far to the center as i could so i hav room for a second battery down the road.

Hey 5150

I haven't seen your setup. What are you running off of that thing? and what about interior? One last question please. I was talking to a friend of mine who told me that he heard FJ owners moving their ECM/PCM to a location higher than their original OEM position. Heard of this? btw thanks for your time! and I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of this! Awesome!

Looks great Dude ! That box appears very strong, & looks like you you got four mounting points. That will keep it in place down a bumpy road for sure.

Keep them updates coming !

I'm going to be running the following componets..

Cb radio

Scanner

front 12V triple gang outlet

Rear 12V triple gang outlet

Gauges (oil temp, oil pressue etc..)

Whelen Cen com siren/switch panel (this will be replacing my airhorn and will give power to all my lighting)

Arrow stick

Sub woofer stereo amp

LED flasher (for the front grill)

Dome light

I've heard of people relocating there ecu's, but never acctuly seen anyone do it on an FJ before. I'll post up pics of the interior and mount of all the equipment soon.

Thanks Boss! Ya mounting it was one part that i wasn't looking forward to since i didn't know how i was going to go about it. Luckly it was a lot eaiser that i expected!

I want to shield my ECU from EMP :)

now that's what I'm talking about!!!

build a faraday cage

Haha! Whats that?
