FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hey all,

After enjoying my fj pure stock for the last couple of months, I've started looking into wheels and tires and was wondering... it wouldn't hurt anything to get a preemptive BMC done prior to changing things out would it? Just thinking about it so I don't have to get settled on something then have to wait to put them on (285 Nitto Grapplers as an example). Thanks in advance...

there isn't any reason not to.... let's chop it up! lol

LOL you've got message!

You can think of a BMC as simply "prep work" for future larger tires.  I hesitated for the longest time, then finally just did it one day after work in my driveway. (A buddy brought his welder for the replacement plates) It was pretty simple. Nice looking FJ, I wish the sandstorm (my color) was that dark.

Thanks for the compliment. The color actually grew on me the more I visited the dealerships. At first I wasn't feeling it at all...then by the 3rd visit I was set on getting this color. Now, can't imagine being in anything different.

As for the prep, yea..that's kind of what I was getting at with the original question. Prep work for what I've got in mind. Just wanted to see if there were any cons to doing so.

The only con is knowing that you have your BMC done it will force you to buy wheels and tires sooner even if you're not ready... Maybe that's a pro? :)

heh...when I mentioned to the wife about the wheels that are coming a few days before our anniversary road trip down to SD in April she said "oh, that would be cool to have them on the drive down". Then she said "does that mean there's going to be different tires? Didn't something have to be done before you change the tires?"

"Why YEEEESSSSS....something DOEEESSSS need to be done before that".

After almost 20 years, I've learned that if I put enough 'sh!t' into her head and then just close my mouth, it'll come out at the most opportune times.

hahahahahahahaha

man you got her trained well!!

HEY! HEEEEY!!!! There's no training involved here! It's the open lines of communication that are developed after years of hard work, trust and understanding coupled with an unbreakable bond of love that fosters an innate sense of oneness and an "us against the world" mentality.

Dude, she could be lurking.

lol. Some of us are just lucky with wives who we can share our hobbies with. OUR FJC is actually hers, I only drive it till I get my own rig, hopfully a 40 or 80.

lmao....my bad...you did well in searching and waiting for such an amazing woman....one that is loving and giving and understanding....obviously she knows you love her far more than the FJ and is not threatened by it....if she is lurking i appologize for my insenstive and crass remark and return to my corner chair to complete my time-out....
