FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hey All,
After finding out that Geico would not insure a modified vehicle (the winch and the 3" lift do not make them happy) i'm switching insurance companies. So far it looks like the following are much more off road friendly:

Allstate - although you only get 1000$ for aftermarket stuff and no option to insure for more
AAA - 4" lift max, go higher then that and they won't be happy, You can insure aftermarket items.
Nationwinde - 4" lift max. You can insure aftermarket items, 1500 is built into their policy...anything above that costs you extra.

*The three above also mentioned that I would be covered while "camping" or getting to a "camping" location.

Curious to what other folks are using, espeically those with a 6" lift or daily drivers. Cheers!

I have had Geico since I bought the FJ in '06. I tore the rear bumper almost completely off at Cruise Moab '08. I took it home, called Geico and told them I accidentally backed into a ditch while backing out of a campsite. They gave me a check for $700. Only issue was, I was replacing it with the Metal Tech bumper, so I had to have the check made out to both me and Metal Tech. Since I lived in Portland at the time and they are basically down the road from Portland, that was fine. A week later I had a new rear bumper that will not come off. I made sure of it at Cruise Moab '09! hahaha That bumper served me well. Geico has never given me a problem with any of my mods, including 3" lift and MT tires. I have everything, inluding MT tires and rims, sliders, bumper and Bud Built skids covered. And they said it would be for full value. Of course, after my deductable and for extra premium. But it's only like $20/mo more. It may be different in Oregon though. Geico in Cali may be tougher on this. I don't know. I'm still registered in Oregon.
