I am thinking to get a set of new wheels or tires.
My first choice are black rims - 16" for better tire options.

My question is what are my options reg. pressure sensors.
I'd like to have sensors working on my new wheels. I see they may cost up to ca 100$ each, which is about the same as a rim I like. I would not be happy to pay 500$ for just sensors.
May I reuse sensors from my current stock alloy wheels ?  May I get a set of sensors for some more reasonable price ? Or finally, can I disable TPMS ? Are there any other options ?

As an alternative I am considering to stay with my 17" but just paint them black. I am not so happy with such option as they are only 7.5" wide and max tire (in terms of width) I can put is 295x70x17. Nitto makes such tire (not much choice in Allterrains in this size). What are your opinions on Nitto TGs ? How does it compare to allterrains from BFG or Toyo (both are more expensive) ?

I ran Nitto TGs on my 03' 4runner. Great overall tire, decent off road great on road., quiet. I'm going to go with 35" Nittos for my next tires.
How does it handle in snow or icy road ?

Also, is it ok to get D rated tire or I should stick to E ?
As far as sensors go...I bought a set on flea-bay for $205. Haven't installed them yet, but
they are supposed to work. Also, it seems like most tire places offer a re-build kit for them.
Good luck with that!!
Yes you can reuse the sensors.
I have the Terra Grapplers and have them for about 14,000 miles. I was not real happy at first. They seem too slippery???
But as they wore in they have become good overall. I run 16-18 lbs on the trails and no troubles. They are quiet on the highways. I am going to go to either the mud terrain or a tire from procomp next time on a 16" rim instead of the stock 17.
Do you man slippery on-road or off-road ?
Yeah most tires will take some time to wear in. I'm also going with Pro-Comp for my next set they seem to last longer than the BFG AT KOs
After doing more research last night, I think I am converging towards Nitto Trail Grappers 295/70/17 which can fit stock rims.
Trail Grappers have good reviews and they are in between all-terrain and mud-terrain tires which sounds like a good compromise. The only thing is that they are more expensive than a-t. I can find one for ca 300/ea (with shipping,no tax) vs 210 ea for Terra G A/t.
$300 a pop? Ouch thats pricey try 4wheelparts.com sometimes they have buy 3 get the fourth free and rim and tire packages
just found them for $268 a piece

that's exactly the same I found. Shipping is ca 30$ ea, no tax since they are in Oregon.
they dont seem to have Trail Grappers, at least they are not listed online.
