FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I bought my FJ last month (Feb 20th) and am loving it! I've been like a little kid blasting through the puddles on his new bike with all this rain we're getting ;-)

I'm off to Death Valley tomorrow, so I stopped at REI tonight to pick up a water container. As I pulled in I saw this beautiful white FJ all modded out and had to laugh because it looks pretty much exactly like what I've been imagining mine will look like, eventually. There was a spot open right in front of it, so I parked there, nose to nose. As I walked in the store I looked for whoever might be the owner, but figured it was pretty hard to say, so moved on to my business. Fortunately, he saw me come in and tracked me down in the map section. So thanks to Overlander36 for the invite!

One of my main reasons for getting the FJ is because I record nature sounds (I'm also a musician and music teacher). I had a 2001 Tacoma before, but it was too small for me ('m 6'3"), so I upgraded to the FJ. I tend to keep my vehicles pretty much stock, but I'm already getting the mod bug on this one!

I'm looking forward to getting out to some events and meeting the members here. I don't have a lot of experience off road, and know I have a lot to learn, so this looks like a great way to start.

That's about it for now. If you want to check out a few of my recordings you can find them at:

http://jackhines.com/nature.htm (my Death Valley album and a couple of other recordings - the link to purchase the albums is temporarily broken).

Thanks,

Jack

Welcome to the site!  I got mine around the same time and LOVE driving it even with the prices of gas so high!  The forum members on Norcalfj's have been EXTREMELY helpful so far with the minor mods i've done so don't hesitate to ask questions.  Let us know how the Death Valley trip goes!

Welcome. : )
Howdy!

Hope you have/had a great trip. A co-worker just spent several days there for a photo trip and got some great shots.

Hey Welcome!

Welcome, I'm also located in Sonoma county (Santa Rosa). keep an eye out for meet n greets and install days. They are  the best way to get some good advice and help installing those never ending mods.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm definitely looking forward to the get togethers.

I just got back from Death Valley this evening. It was a great trip, though a bit short. The FJ did great, as expected. I'll post up a report in the next few days.
