FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Good Evening - We purchased a 2008 Sandstorm FJ in Oct. of 2008. My wife has the pleasure of driving the FJ while I commute from Fremont to Stockton in my Corolla.
We just hit 15,000 miles and have decided to do some mods. Would like some suggestions for Nav with Blue Tooth and XM radio. Saw a great overhead map light install on FJ Forums. We have not done any 4-wheel drive stuff but like to learn and get involved. We are in the upper-upper age bracket so we don't get as rambunctious as we once would have.
Anyway nice to be here.

HeY welcome guys, yea you guys came in to the right place I was a newby once and didn't know anything about my FJ when I bought it nor how to utilize the rig(still learning). But this is the place for q&a about your rig. By the way where in Stockton you guys from??? my folks lives out there. But ya welcome again and hope to see you guys in one of our functions.
Actually we live in Fremont and I work in Stockton. Not a bad drive against traffic, about an hour. I should be retired but you know how it goes these days. This looks like a great place to get involved and learn.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Wayne & Welcome,
Nav was the first thing I did to make driving more enjoyable. Hopefully another member will chime in to give you some ideas for your interior goodies. The '09 FJ has a map light that can be installed w/ some work. I plan to go to a pic-a-part one of these days to see what I can find. I would like to get something w/ two directional lights and a cubby for my sunglasses and what not.
Come out anytime you see a Hollister run, it is a great place to learn. From what I have seen here and on the trails, is that members here are age blind. Don't let that stop you from having fun.

BTW, nice color choice.
Oh no.. Not another new Guy !!!

Just kidding.. Welcome the the site..

There is lots of good info to be had on here.

Like the other guys said look out for trail runs and install days. There are many people on this site that will help ya out with answers and even help ya turn a wrench.

Hope to see you out on the trail soon..

Welcome aboard sir! This is certainly one of the best sites for questions and making FJ friends. See you around!
Welcome Wayne

Hope you get to come out and meet some of the great folks around here, as was previously mentioned the install days and day runs to Hollister are great to get to know the others and see what mods people have done and maybe even learn a few things ;o)

On your NAV question, I installed a Kenwood DNX5120, has Garmin NAV, iPod support, XM and Sirrus support, also a USB hookup that can run either a MP3 player or access a flash drive (unless you have the iPod hookup then that uses the USB), DVD and backup camera hookups, It's been a good unit, they are now on the DNX#140 series which I"m sure have more.

Hope to cya around,
Dave
Thanks for the reply. Heading to Texas for a week to Grand Kids. Looking forward to coming out. I will look into the Kenwood.

Thanks Again
Wayne
Welcome to the NorCal site and hope to see you and your wife out on the trails. You came to the right place to
get info on your FJ and also for learning a few things about your FJ on the trails. Hope to see you on the trails.
Welcome Wayne and wife. Looking forward to meeting you.
Do you have any connection with Selway Machining Centers?
