Has anyone else seen this Baja Rack Insert?  My neighbor just bought one for is Army Green Fj.  The first time I saw it, I didn't realize it was a stock rack!

it is a pretty cool insert if one was tied to the stock rack. definitely better than any other basket out there IMHO. i am hoping to purchase the full rack at some point. my only issue with the half rack, which i considered, is how i could mount my snowboard racks...it would either have to be far forward or far back. i am assuming the mounting issue would pose a problem for anyone else trying to throw things on the rack, like bicycles or cargo boxes. otherwise, it is great for lugging camping gear and such.
I to thought that this was a cool idea, but the price I thought was kind of high in relation the the full rack..

I would just go for the full one myself, the stock rack is useless IMO.. The full Baja is cool !!!!!!

There is only like $100 diff in price.. I think
Ooooooh. That's kinda cool !!
I thought that they just replaced the OEM rack!

I've been looking at this rack for a little while. I was going to remove my stock rack and maybe go with a Gobi, then read that lots of FJ owners had a nightmare of a time with removing the stock rack bolts, the in-roof threading tearing out and the bolts had to be cut free, causing the roof to have to be opened up and fixed... Even happened at the dealer sometimes. But some have no issue. All this to say that I really like the way this looks and fits in with the stock rack. It's pretty strong and affordable too. After my bumper, it'll be my next purchase.
If I didn't have my light bar blocking the front, I would definitely get this. But, like Tater said, there's also the problem of figuring out ski racks and what-not (which is why I got the stock rack to begin with because they are the easiest to deal with).
Interesting.

Don't really need one and seems kinda price at $375 plus shipping but useful if you need it. It won't work for me because I use Yakima Mighty Mounts on the OEM slats to support my ski racks, which I use both for skis and for long handled tools.
ok marty some ppl use their racks for things heavier than the odd long handled Tool or Skis

ok I don't haul anything up there either

it might be easier just to say I have nothing to add here, just wanted to be included in the thread......
Ok, Bz: "I have nothing to add here, just wanted to be included in the thread. . . . "

Not sure why you needed to upbraid me on my "useless" post in this thread, but I don't think the comment you suggest conveys the same "useless" info that I posted originally but I'm not here to cause trouble, just express an opinion from time to time which may or may not be useful, but if my posts are not welcome here I can just stay on the Blue Forum where I don't seem to annoy people as much as long as I stay away from political threads. ;-)

Ciao!
??????????
Yo marty, it's only Bz's attempt at humor. we like there is no drama here, so do post whatever you like man.
Sorry I was referring to Myself, and how "WE" are all just a bunch of post hoes

Not trying to start a fight or get ya all worked up, just havin a little fun at what I thought was my own expense, you are welcome here!
I hope to see ya soon, and hell I may be broke all the time, but I'll buy the 1st round!

Guys, I found a great rack insert at a decent price at http://www.waag.com/xsrack/insert_basket/ I called them to get a quote...the salesperson said $400 + shipping. They can also cut the rack to what ever size you need it(All-Pro Air Dam).
