So last Saturday when I was driving to work it started to rain and get slippery. I came around a corner to an old Ford F-150 made of all metal fish tailing in the road, she was completly sideways. At the last minute she turns her wheel and comes right into my grill head on! I ended up just having a sprained neck and my passenger has bruised ribs, thank god we're ok. So that grill guard only lasted 2 days.
How is the FJ? Will the insurance cover the repairs totally? I hope so...
My question at this point is, with a metal bumper like DeMello's, skid plates etc, would one have better chances to limit damage to the FJ (at the expense of the other)???
manoweb, you can see the stock bumper is slightly deformed and sticking out under the front bumper. It looks like the F150 went over the bumper and crushed the engine compartment.
I'd guess that even a heavy aftermarket bumper (demello, fab four, etc) and frame would be bent up after that hard of a hit. The collapse of the engine compartment definitely helped absorb some of the energy of that crash.
