FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi guys,

My first post!

Traveling to Oregon over Thanksgiving from the Bayarea and looking to split the journey up with some trail work and an overnight camp. I know there are some good trails around Tahoe (not ready for the Rubicon!) and wondered if anyone could give me some pointers.

Cheers

you could actually do the eastern part of the Rubicon. there are some trails that stem off to the north: Blackwood Canyon and Ellis Peak. if i remember correctly, there were some campsites down by the pond/lake. i did this one stock with RockyFJ and had no problems. there is also another easier trail just north of Tahoe. if you have a little more time, you can drive about 30-45 minutes west of Tahoe to Eagle Lakes. there are some posts/photos of that trail on this site. have fun!
Thanks for the reply, I've heard the first part of the Rubicon is not too hairy, maybe I'll give it a go.

Cheers

Were you planning to travel through Tahoe from the highway 50 area? or coming in through another pass around the back side? Some of the trails would depend on the weather around Thanksgiving weekend, and which pass you were willing to go over....
Hi

I will be coming in from the South Shore, just looking for a moderate trail, not too long with nice camp spot.

Cheers
