Jack stands, saftey, and advice

I'm ready to install my new 3rd member in the fj but I have a problem but first some back ground.

I grew up about a mile away from a wrecking yard. One of the owners was mentally handicapped (this could have been a rumor to scare young motor heads) due to a car that was jacked up, jackfailed, car fell, landed on his f'ing head.

Lesson learned. Don't do anything under vehicle unless well secured.

How would you jack up and secure the rear fj well enough to r and r the rear 3rd member.?

Chalk the front tires, jack up the rear and place the stands under the axel. If you really wanted to be safe, put two more stans on the frame, in front of the center/rear body mounts, but I don't think that's necessary.

Whenever I have mine up in the air I put the transfer case in 4Lo so that whatever tires are on the ground will have a hard time rolling against the engine. And I chock the tires as well. I have some heavy jack stands you can use as well.

Yes indeedy! I am currently in NJ and flying home tomorrow so the phone will be off most of the day, I'll call ya up when I hit the left coast!

Forklift with wheels sitting on 24" long 12" x 12" blocks. You can almost walk under it!

But that's just me.

You have the perfect set up. Thanks for reminding me.

My drive way is sloped about 20 degrees. It sucks and the fj doesn't fit in the garage
