FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi, all!

I am taking a little break between jobs, and I'd like to head out by myself for some 4x4 & camping.

I would love a quiet place by a lake, also preferably someplace that requires crossing a little bit of water.

Anyone have suggestions?

Out by eagle lakes trail you can also go up fordyce
Eagles lakes trail is by Lassen?

A dark closet and an mp3 player!

Signal peak is a pretty easy trail and the view from the top is awesome. It also is right next to the eagle lakes trail. No water to cross though.

I would not recommend going on fordyce alone.

Eagle Lakes trail is an hour and a half or so outside of Sacramento on your way to Reno.

Indian Creek Reservoir by Markleeville.  It's an awesome camp site by a nice fishing lake.  No water crossing that I know of, but it's mostly BLM land, so you can probably find something.

Just returned from Eagle Lakes area. Grouse Ridge area has a water crossing and great primitive camping along the South Fork Yuba river. That "river" however is pretty small for fishing.

I liked Mendocino National, its HUGE, you can seriously get lost in there. You can go as far back as you want. Take maps from the rangers office and sign in with them before you head in, that way they know to look for you if you are gone too long. Have fun

Thanks all!
