it is the time of year to enjoy the splendor of the High Sierra.
now in its 5th year, the High Sierra Run is the perfect vacation for those who enjoy the scenery, recreational activities and relaxation that the Eastern Sierra has to offer.
as always, this run only has a couple pre-scheduled runs and follows a "come and go as you please" format. each year, some folks go on exploration runs, while others go fishing, hit the natural hot springs, or hiking. this year, we've extended the run to a full week and you can plan your arrival and departure as you wish.

Looking forward to next weekend !
i have updated the OP with activity and event information. as you know, the High Sierra Run is unique in that there is a lot to do and see and we usually plan things around the campfire the night before. this year, it looks like Oktoberfest is taking place at Mammoth Village. although we'll have good beer in camp, it may be worth checking out for a couple hours. also, don't forget about National Public Lands Day, which occurs on the same Saturday every year during the High Sierra Run. Those of you planning to leave on Saturday and take 120 through Yosemite home will be in for a pleasant surprise...no park entrance fee. Also, no fee at Devil's Postpile. A few folks have taken advantage of that a couple years in a row.
if you like photography, i can't think of a better region for shutterbugs. bonus points if someone actually does a handstand on the shores of Mono Lake a la Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. same goes for fishing. also, there are natural hot springs that abound east of 395 within miles of our campsite.
at night around the campsite, it is bring your own F&B, but we usually share due to large portions. if you like to play acoustic guitar, bring it along. we had Wish You Were Here on loop last year at one of the campsites and it just kind of brought it all together.
night hikes abound as well. plenty of meadows for stargazing. ask Robbie about his awesome experience.
Bummer dude I was really looking forward to haning out, but as always Family first.. Are you moving back there or will this be just a temp thing??
I hope all is well out there!
