National Public Lands Day:
Free admission to Devil's Postpile National Monument and Mono Lake
Volunteer opportunity: TBD on Saturday AM

this is the official thread for the annual High Sierra run. despite having considered moving to an alternating base camp/expedition style run, we'll stick with the base camp idea this year. we'll establish base camp on Laurel Lakes trail again.

395 to Trail Head: http://bit.ly/cwHI0p
Approximately 1.5 miles of dirt road once you get off 395 at Sherwin Creek Road

the High Sierra run, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the format, is part trail run, part vacation. we will only establish 2-3 "official" trail runs and the rest of the activities are planned impromptu or on-your-own. last year, several folks went fishing, kayaking and sightseeing. more details on the planned runs will be outlined in the coming weeks, but will most likely include Coyote Flat, Mono Craters and yearly favorite, Kavanaugh Ridge.

also, i am looking into a possible volunteer opportunity for National Public Lands Day on Saturday, the 25th. i will most likely propose something in the nearby Mammoth area...perhaps a trail clean-up. for those of you who are unfamiliar with National Public Lands Day, it is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to help sure-up and clean-up our public lands. it also allows free admission to most national parks and monuments (Yosemite, Devil's Postpile and Mono Lake included).

nice shots!...amazing terrain.
thanks everyone, great time (God's country never fails :-), can't wait to see everyone again in Nov
great seeing you again! hope your daughter is feeling better.
she had movie fever, she wanted me to take her to the movies on Sunday (I did) :-)
Hey everyone... So sorry I had to bail early. Apparently, 9600' and 20 degree nights didn't sit so well with the cold I was coming down with. Spent the next three days on the couch... uugh!! Bummed!
hope you're feeling better! i was looking forward to shooting some photography with you. i never got around to doing nocturnal photography, but did scope out a few awesome places along Laurel Canyon for some great shots.
Yeah... I was pretty bummed... I didn't even get one shot off!
Travis and I had a great time on this run, enjoyed sharing the best camp site in the place with all of you. Good cooks and bartenders are always welcome. looking forward to SNT in November, we are so close to Pismo (Step Cal country) the wife, kids, dog, hell...everyone's coming!

We came back through Yosemite Sunday, did some hiking in Tuolumne Meadows then hit the valley about 430 ish (We might have been the TI you saw on 41 south). Got back to town at 2am and hit the speed bump around the corner from my house and the sway bar bracket falls off. It was still hanging there by the beefy links and I limped it the one block to the house. After 7 days on the road, that was one lucky location to fall apart! See ya all in November, Dave
wow, how fortunate that you were so close to home when it happened. it was great hanging out with you and Travis in the Shangri-La and thanks for the fishing stories/photos. looking forward to meeting your family at SnT!
Left our directions to camp on the kitchen table!
So damn cold one night water bottles left on the table froze!
Wheeled in some of the finest dust this side of the moon around Mono Lake! Couldn't see some turns or the rig in front of us half the time!
After spending 10 hours on the trail the last day, we had to get back to camp in the dark!
No facilities!

We can't what to do this again!!!!! Thanks to all for a great trip (wheeling, food, booze, great company). Maria took 80+ photo's we'll get posted soon.
wife, is fine.

we had a great time with ya`all - sorry we missed sat's run.
