FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hello,

I don't have an FJ... yet but, I will soon.

A little about myself, I'm an Engineer for the phone company, my main function is to design and implement Microwave Radio equipment at remote Radio Sites all over Northern CA and some parts of SoCal and Nevada. This involves off road driving up to the radio sites. This is where I have learned to enjoy off road driving, where I learned to use a winch, and where I learned to respect the land.

I've been doing this for over a decade in the same company provided Chevy Blazer 4x4 and have been impressed with it's abilities... I can only imagine what an FJ can do.

I guess I can be called a Toyota fan too... My first car was a Corolla and through the last 20 years I have owned a 4Runner, a MKIV Supra, a Sequoia, and a Lexus IS300.

I first drove an FJ at Cal Expo during the Autoshow a couple years ago. Toyota had a little off road course set up and the FJ made me grin from ear to ear. "One day" I told myself.

First learned about NorCal FJ from a sticker on a black FJ parked at a Starbucks in San Ramon.

As I stated, I do not own an FJ yet but, I am ready to purchase one now and am actively looking. There's a 2012 in Calvary Blue at the closest dealer to my house and after checking it out, it's a really cool color. But, I'm looking for pre-owned as well. I have my eye on a couple Trail Teams... But, trying to weigh the pros and cons of new or used.

Thanks for allowing me to introduce myself,

John

Thanks Dom,

I am already going insane... trying to decided which mod to do first.
You got the best color as well!
I agree... but, I like all the colors the FJ is offered in and that was a problem for me since I couldn't decide... that is until I saw Overlander36's rig on the freeway the other day.

Congratulations!

Definitely best color. Took mine through massive trees/foliage and you have to look at certain angles to even se the surface scratches. Most will come out with a buff.

I would say in order:

1. Blackout

2. Lift

3. Tires/rims

4. Bumpers/Winch

:)

Here's my draft list LOL:

1) TRD exhaust - should come in tomorrow... I'll probably install it over the weekend
2) Blackout - I'm still deciding if I'll do the Plasti Dip method on the wheels, handles, mirrors, and front grill... I definitely will do it on the emblems.
3) Springertail MPAC
4) 2m/440 Mobile radio - I ordered my Bandi mount and will put the items together once I decide on which radio to buy.
5) Ricochet airdam with HIDs - it'll be on the top of my list that I send to Santa
6) Recovery gear - Jack, shovel, and axe on rack.

As for the lift, wheels, tires, bumpers, etc... that will be in the plans next year as budget allows. The FJ is my new daily driver and since I have a company provided rig to get to the remote radio sites, it's not high on my priority list.

I'm sure most of the veteran FJ folks here are saying to themselves "Famous last words noob" LOL
Congrats on the purchase and LET THE FUN BEGIN.... :-)
