FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hello,

Bought my FJ in Sept. Just came across this forum recently. Still quite a few things I need to get but so far have added wheels, tires, OME and a Baja rack. I have taken a few off road trips, mono lake, death valley and joshua tree. Being out there solo has left me rattled a couple of times and would enjoy doing some group rides to get more experience. Thought about a roof top tent but I plan to mainly travel in the desert and I think the winds would be an issue so for now I plan to sleep on the roof or in the truck when the weather is bad. Will be buying some camping gear, building a sleeping platform in the back and most likely get a winch. Look forward to meeting and seeing some of of you on a group ride.

I am heading out to Nevada this weekend and do some exploring out there.

Opps...just realized there is a New Members section...my apologies.

Don't apologize. Welcome to the Norcal FJs.

I go to the desert often. Drop me an email, sonof40@gmail.com

Welcome in! The forum is kinda slow right now. I really like the pictures you posted, i will do Death Valley from 03/11 to 03/16, also planning to go Hollister or a snow ride sometime in February. Keep posting the pictures and were you went, i am always looking for new destination ideas.

Where are you located?

Hi and welcome,

Steve Hope

Welcome, great picture.

Welcome

Welcome to the group!

Howdy from Clovis.

If you head thru Yosemite someday, let me know.

Btw, great photos!

thanks for the replies!!...I am located in Sactown..will send you an email Sonof40. Sure you know a lot of places I would be interested in and would be good for me to get some experience with someone that knows what they are doing.

Clovis, I hope to be heading down your way way often. Death Valley so far is my fav place nearby for exploring.

Heading out to Austin Nevada tomorrow. A lot of great looking roads, abandoned towns, and random desert shit to check out.

Will be adding a ref, lights, battery management and heavy duty battery, to help with the camping aspect. Also add the standard recovery gear, compressor, straps etc. in the near future. Plus camping gear so quite a few things to still sort out.

I would like to be able to live out of the truck for extended periods. Maybe take a few long road trips.

That has been my goal. I think I'm there with my latest addition, a small microwave oven that I'm anxious to try out.

Any link on that Microwave? what is the watt consumption? 120v or 12v? Just curious as i also try to equip the truck for extended camping!  You have a build thread?

120v so inverter needed, but only 600w.

No build thread. I should do one. But here's how it all started:

Here's the microwave:
