FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hey all,

I have the opportunity to get, what seems to me, to be a GREAT deal on some new Fox fronts and rears.

Fronts

Rears except piggy back

At this point, I'm not really all that concerned with lifting it that much so the fact that the rears are for stock height is fine. More of a level, reduced brake dive and improved ride for road trips. The wife and I tend to take detours when we're on road trips and stock height has been fine for where we've found ourselves.

Just want to make sure that with this package, I won't really need anything else aside from UCA's? I'm still undecided as to what tire size I'll be going with but they'll be Duratracs either stock size or 285's. Got my bmc out of the way so we're okay there.

Is there anything you guys can think of by way of 'gotchas' that I might want to keep in mind?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Sweet choice!  I run a similar set up.  I have been down the same trail researching Fox shocks.

With the front shocks make sure and score a spanner wrench when you purchase them.  It wasn't easy for me to find a spanner and had to borrow one from a bro in SoCal.  The one you have pictured comes in to lengths (regular and extended travel)  the "Regular travel" doesn't need aftermarket Upper Control arms.  The "Extended Travel" does need them.

The rear shocks you show have the wrong type of mount on the top end.  The ones you are looking for need to have a vertical screw and bolt (look at the stock for reference) These are the rears I have.

Once scored,  Your are a "rear spring away" from having a true lift.   I run 285 Nitto Terra Grapplers

**Make sure and get an allignment

You are going to FREAK on how awesome the ride is!

Thanks for the reply CB. I'm getting this through an employee discount so I'll definitely check up on the spanner wrench. Do you remember what the part number for your rears are? The part number he gave me was 980-02-417a (fox site only shows the non A ones) but the google shows the A ones as looking exactly like the ones you linked.  Also, do your rears come with compression adjusters built on?

As for needing UCAs: The part number he gave me is for the 0-3' and those would require UCA's.

Yeah,  if you get the 0-3" extended travel you need the UCA and you will also be getting 1.75" more travel over stock and if you don't run it lifted you "might" be getting alot of tire rub besides on the Body Mount.  My rears don't have the adjusters dials.   I scored my set up thru Offroad warehoiuse. Here is the parts # for the rears #980-02-417-A

Shoot,  here is a link http://www.offroadwarehouse.com/products/productID/39128   The piggy backs might be a few year old design and they are $200+ change each.  w/o the adjusters.   I wanted those really bad at first and was thinking on adding them in the future.   I now see no need.

I know the link has Blue Shocks but mine are the Black and Silver ones.   I will state again,  "You are going to freak on the ride difference."
