NorCal FJs

FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Ok, so I'm with my wife and little boy this morning watching Modesto's July 4th parade, when it occures to me... Wouldn't it be cool to get a Norcal Fjs group entered in next year's parade? I'm not sure but I believe you just have to sign up and fill out some paperwork about who you are. (if there is interest I'll find out all the details) I was thinking "there go the mustangs, the bikers, the cemetary clean up crew"?!?  I know we have a fair number of members here in Modesto and we could put a nice sized entry together. I also thought it would help get the forum out to those not familiar with us. Owners from out of town would be welcome as well.  What do you all think?

i think it's a great idea, but based on what i've seen in parades past, most vehicles usually fall into one of two categories: 1) they are antique/classics or highly customized/show vehicles or 2) affiliated with a local club and/or non-profit organization that does charitable work within the community.
Yeah, I had some similar thoughts along those lines... I'll look into it a little more if people respond to the idea. otherwise I'll just let it go.

great idea. Get details

I am near Modesto...I'd be interested
Ok, so there is some interest. Give me a day or two to find out the requirements/ info for entry and I'll post up when I've got it.

the application is on their website and they have categories from which to choose from:

1. Overall Equestrian Unit

2. Individual Equestrian

3. Equestrian Club

4. Farm Entry

5. Antique Car Pre-1940 (Individual)

6. Classic Car Pre-1973 (Individual)

7. Custom Car (Individual)

8. Antique Car Club

9. Custom Car Club

10. Motorcycle Group

11. Marching Band

12. Musical Group (Non Marching Band)

13. Dance/Drill/Cheer Group

14. Military Unit

15. Color Guard

16. Corporate Float

17. Ethnic Group/Float

18. Non-Profit Group/Float

19. Comical/Entertaining Entry

20. Dignitary (Non-judged)

21. Kids Group/Float

the closest we'd come to is Custom Car Club, but 1) we're not a club and 2) the term "custom" is generally identified with heavily modified/painted. i think they have these guidelines in place to prevent a bunch of stock Honda Civic owners from joining the parade.

Maybe we can talk Nester into entering under category #7 and we can all show up and cheer him on!  His FJ is definitely customized.  I'd help pay his fee!
now, that i can see. get Sol out there too!

Thanks for posting the categories Tater. It looks like unless we put together a marching band or HEAVILY mod our trucks, we aren't left with much to choose from.  Although we could enter a comical entertaining entry... Stand up anyone?  j/k

Oh well. thought it was worth a shot.

well, ya never know...we do have quite a few knuckleheads on here that may qualify us for the comical entertaining entry.

or perhaps a non-profit float!
