NorCal FJs

FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi everyone, Steve here. Not new to 4x4's but have a new 2012 TTSE . Added ARB bullbar and Smittybilt 8k winch and added 2.25inch front leveling kit.

Often do day trips to fire roads off Mormon Immigrant Trail and fire roads out of Georgetown.

Have several good loops for off roading and my wife likes to mountain-bike those same roads.

Looking for fellow enthusiasts for day trips into the El Dorado NF for off-road trips.

I usually keep current NF maps (buy them every two years) because sometimes Cal-Fire and NF Service switch some roads, and access changes anually.

The pic I uploaded is actually from a fire service road to Mt Tallac in Lake Tahoe, a cool 12 mile road to the peak.

Looking forward to driving with you guys soon.

Hey Steve,

I live in Placerville and go up to that area all the time. Let me know next time you plan a trip.

Welcome. I would be interested in the next time you head out.

Hey Steve

Welcome.  I am in the areas as well - Shingle Springs.  We are always moving around in Crystal Basin and points south.  I hope you can join on the next Long Canyon trail clean up day.

Do you camp with the rig and family?

Hey Im Chance, im in the sac area, when Im not busy working or submarine-ing my fj Im always down to wheel up there! Im jelous of the red fjs, that color is awesome on the new fjs! I got a welder and tools if you ever need any kind of fabrication done.

Yo, well I also am in sac always willing to wheel. Congrats on the TT

Hey Steve.  I live in Bay Area, but have a place in Pollock Pines that the family and I enjoy visiting as much as possible.  Interested in meeting up some time - bummed I couldn't make the last Long Canyon Trail run DWH organized.

Hey guys, nice to hear from so many FJ owners locally. Ive been looking for a group such as this for a while.

Any one of these upcoming saturdays would be good, will yack back when I find out what my wife is up to.

I know a cool route that is easy and scenic, a little dusty during summer, only requires 4low for engine braking purposes and begins on Mormon Immigrant Trail. Basically take Light Canyon Road, approx 9  miles east of MIT marker.Head to 11N46 go north. At next crossroads turn right to 10N35 and head to the Alder Ridge Lookout.Returning from the lookout, take 10N35 to 10N36 to 11N46 south. This returns to MIT. Turn right on MIT for a short ride to Pilliken Road on left. Often this road has motorcycles and atvs, but there is a lot of room to pass. Take Pilliken to 10N75 on left and drive to North/South Road.Heading left runs down to a nice spot to park and picnic on the granite at Camp Creek. Backtrack up N/S Rd to 10N06 to either 10N59,(Big Pebble Can) road to MIT, or turn right on 10N58(Little Big Can), also out to MIT.

Most parts are good for mountain biking, wife likes to do that, son too sometimes.

Steve.

I'm up for anything from Quincy to Yosemite, the coast to Fallon, NV on weekends...farther for longer periods. I like to camp, but am willing to run some trails for the day and break away after to camp if you're not into camping.

Congrats on your new FJ and see you on the trails.

Apparently, GHOST's wife caught a glimpse of my highly camo'd TTSE today. Damn, thought I was well hidden :-)

Will yack soon, but son off school today with scratchy throat, if that developes into something, then this weekend is off.

Having more surgery performed on my FJ this friday, cutting into bullbar to add ARB fog lights and removing wimpy factory horn to add dual PIAA horns. Should be healed by saturday, hope my son is.

Steve.
