I just know their gonna try to push this

If you want it, get it. But don't over pay.

I paid about $900 for the Toyota Platinum.  So use that as a baseline.

The majority of the time, it will not be needed.  However, if something does go wrong, it is nice to have.  It is normally around a thousand dollars, and many repairs can be over that.

IMNSHO, don't bother.

Frankly, the truck is pretty well made and unlikely to have major failures. If something goes wrong, it will most likely be during the standard 36 month BTB, or the 60k drive train warranty.

Although there are exceptions (need them to prove a rule, right?), good luck getting much covered under the extended.

The things that probably will happen, fender bulges, squeaky brakes, miscellaneous pops and creaks, won't be coverd by any warranty. Save your money and buy a lift or some competent tires.

FWIW, my 2 cents.

And you DON"T have to buy it now.

You can wait untill you hit 35k if you want to buy the BTB.

I'm not sure, but you can prolly wait til 59k to get the power-train.

I bought one for our Honda van and used it a few times and got my moneys worth. I did not buy one for the FJ and have not needed it.

Essentially you are making a bet with the dealer that something major will go wrong. The FJ seems to be pretty stout.

i got the extended warranty primarily because it was the first year of production and i didn't want to take any chances. turns out i haven't needed it.
