FJ Cruisers of Northern California
My contact at the Forest Service told me about a program they are starting. His message (edited) is below.
Hi DWH. I was wondering if the FJ’s would be interested in participating in a guided tour of native plants of the Sierra Nevada. The Cal Native Plant Society is interested in providing guides for such a trip. I think I mentioned a while back, we want to be able to provide your club and others and all forest visitors who want to get out with their Jeeps/FJ’s, additional opportunities since we had to close some routes. These tours will be pretty mild, not as challenging as some of the other trails offer, but it will be a chance to get out with your club and FJ’s.
Other possible tours could include tours guided by Trout Unlimited on fish of this region. Maybe even some tips on catching fish! I know I also mentioned a tour of the old Caldor area. We’re still working on that. I think the roads are pretty grown over and need some work. I plan on doing some reconnaissance of the area soon.
No charge for the tours. I think there was a tentative date in early August for the native plant tour.
Maybe we can help with some of the clean-up and clearing efforts as well.
Let me know if you are interested and I will relay it to the Forest Service.

Sounds interesting. I might be up for that.
I would love to do this, can I wear my Ranger Hat? :-)
If it's on a saturday count me in, I have Fri/Sat off this month and I'm hoping it continues through August.
Interested in the plants half. Don't care about the fish.
