FJ Cruisers of Northern California
Hi, all -
Just wanted to share some insight. I can barely change a lightbulb... one of the least handy people you've ever met, and I'm not just being modest. It's true.
That said, I pulled off the installation of a switch for Daytime Running Lights yesterday using the "Swiss Method" from Blue Man Group. Of course, I will leave them on by default, but I don't really like to be forced to do anything, so there it is. If I can do it, please believe me, you can do it.
Second thing, it took me until midnight, but I installed Hella Supertones last night. I had a hard time finding a good installation thread, but found this guy's step-by-step guide. He has some bolt sizes incorrect (he drives some kind of sports car) and the ring terminals were too small (which meant I had to improvise in some cases), but I pulled it off. Again - you must trust me - if I can do it, you can, too.
A note on the Supertones... at 375 & 500 Hz and 116 & 119 Db, they are *very* loud (good), but still a little bit high. Low tone horns (ie Hella's), are more like 310 Hz. My point here is that if you dislike your stock horn, the Supertones are a *huge* upgrade, but if you're looking for a low tone horn, keep looking. Even the Hella Trumpets are 400/500 Hz (and only 106 Db).
