Dec 14 Recovery Clinic Holllister with Tim Scully

So you have a winch, Hi-lift Jack and tow straps do you know how to use them properly and safely? Many people have these tools, but don't know how or when they should use them.

Tim Scully has offered to hold a basic skills and recovery class at Hollister Hills on Sunday Dec 14th. starting at 9 am staging at between 8-9

For those of you that haven't met Tim, this is something that Tim does professionally with both Toyota for the Trail Teams and Land Rover.

Tim's credentials

• 2006 East Coast Trail Team lead driver (07,08 backup)
• Crawford’s Fall Crawl 2002, Tellico, NC, champion
• East Coast Rock Crawling Championship 2002, champion
• Land Rover TreK 2000, White Sulphur Springs, W.VA, champion
• Land Rover Global TreK 2001, South Africa, third place

What we are looking at doing is a 3 or 4 hour session learning how to winch properly, failed hill climbs, etc. Followed by a trail run around Hollister.

Tim's looking at a $25 (not including park fee)per head with a 20 Rig maximum we would like to have at least 5 rigs. 25 bucks is a deal since this is something that normally would cost you 150 or more depending on who your working with.

I can tell you from personal experience that every time I run with Tim I learn something new.

Update you don't have to have recovery gear,

We will be starting at 9am.. We might have Area 5 but that has not yet been confirmed. If we don't get Area 5 we will meet at the school house at the main gate to the upper ranch. Please try and be on site by 8:45am.

Update 2

We have all been hearing that it's supposed to rain in the Bay Area this weekend, however Hollister is far enough south that it tends not to get the same amount of rain the the Bay Area has. Unless the weather is completely hosed and it's coming down in buckets we will still have the session. I would however recommend that you bring rain gear and dry clothing to change into.

Also having a good pair of gloves is a must, and if possible I would recommend having a pair of safety glasses in your truck as well.

UPDATE 3
Just a Heads up we are still doing this rain or shine, just got down working with Tim today with Land Rover.

We will be meeting at AREA 5.

PM me if you are interested.

i'm interested. i'd like to be able to assist with winch operation when needed as well as learn how to rescue rigs from some precarious positions. Tim's a nice guy...met him briefly at the first FJ Summit.
I am in !! Sounds like fun and this is something that I want to learn more about !!

Sounds like a great deal.. Put me on the list..
Please add me to the list. I have been wanting to attend some sort of seminar. I was bummed that there have not been any west coast Trail Team events since I bought my FJ. This will be great for all of us.

Picture: Tim on the Rubicon Trail

I've wheeled with Tim in Moab, The Hammers and the Rubicon and he knows his stuff. I heard his recovery clinic talk about 20 times while at Offroad Expo, this past October, and I learned something each time. If you haven't experienced Tim's recovery clinic you really need to make it out to Hollister for this one. Remember Tim does this for a living and $25 is nowhere near what you would normally pay to see a pro like Tim in action.

OPG add me to the list of attendees.
