FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Does anyone know of runs that can be done in a single day in the Roseville/Sacramento area?  I did the AllCal and SnT and had a great time and met lots of good people.  I am sure there are others out there in similar situations...work, family, day-to-day grind makes it hard to take 2-3 days to do 4x4ing...but the itch is always present!  I'm looking for runs that can be done in a day and family-friendly people to go with...Ideas? Suggestions?

There's an off-road park at Prairie City in El Doroda hills

There is eagle lake trail up off of I-80 and there's long canyon trail towards kyburz. Prairie city svra is still under renovation, so most of the 4x4 area closed. There's more but there's also snow everywhere. If you do go let me know, I'm interested. I might be scoutin with fj4 tahoe saturday up in the reno area but I would be back in town that night. You should come along it's a day trip, maybe a long day trip but a day trip none the less. =)

Just saw the forecast for this weekend...have fun on the way to Reno :-D should be plenty-o-snow!

Yeah, I checked too. Hopefully we get a early start. The wife wanted to play in the snow while snowing so the wifes excited. It's definatley gonna be adventure.

Just be careful out there....be ready to pull each other/yourselves out of packed snow...and bundle up!

Yeah, preparing for the worst. Food, water, clothing, etc. I'll make sure to look before I leap.

From Sac you can day trip to Mormon Emigrant Trail and explore around that area...there are some nice places to visit there and its close by....although it may be snowed in atm :-)

Pretty much everything in that area will be snowed in until May or June, but the MIT is fun just to see how far you get.

Log Canyon to great for the local day trip.  A nice but long day trip is Little Gold Lake region in Sierra County.  Snowed in now.

Anyone going out this weekend and next weeks needs to pay very close attention to the weather. There a series of storms lined up and we will receive very heavy rain until at least Wednesday.   It will snow first, then we will have a rain on snow event (ie: very high rivers) Sat and early Sunday.  Then it will get a little colder.  Sking is going to suck over the weekend.

We may see 10 plus feet of snow in the southern Sierras then melt off.  SoCal will be blasted mid to late in the week.  Mud and debris flows likely.

As DivnGirl said - be careful and prepared!

So who's up for Disneyland!

Will keep a eye on weather. If it gets really bad, I won't go and will advise fj4 tahoe the same.. Not trying to bite off more than I can chew. I've been checking the weather and looking for what to expect. Little gold lake is beauitful. The wife and me took a trip out that way a whiles back.

Little stoney, georgetown good places to play just below snow line
