FJ Cruisers of Northern California

hey, NorCal!

the folks over at Eldorado National Forest is looking into putting together a chainsaw operator class, so i wanted to gauge interest on who may want to participate.

i don't have much in the way of details other than it is a certification class (you can get certified or re-certified), will take place over a weekend (probably just one day), and we'll be joining up with our friends over at Friends of the Rubicon.

please let me know your interest level. this is not a commit, as date/time have not been set, so don't feel bad if you sign up and have to bail out due to a conflict once the date is announced.

let me know!!!

Interested. Done enough dumb ass stuff with chainsaws in my youth, but still have all my fingers somehow.

I'm Interested.
I use one all the time at work. Curious to see how stupid I am with it. I am interested.

interested

awesome! looks like there is a lot of interest. i'll let you know when details are finalized. my guess is that it will take place this spring before the thaw, which works out perfectly for those of us who will be volunteering on Long Canyon Trail.
Interested as well.
just a quick update. they are working towards conducting a certification course on a weekend (TBD) in June. however, a whole series of approvals needs to fall in line in order for this to happen. i will keep everyone posted on the goings-on.

UPDATE: so i found out the other day that they are offering a re-certification chainsaw class this Sunday, June 5th. so if any of you are a B qualified sawyer that needs a re-cert, let me know and i will provide you with the information.

no sign of a certification class in the near future as it took so long just to get a one-day, weekend re-cert class going. unfortunately, we also need a B qualified sawyer to cut down any downed trees on a trail if we officially adopt one, so that may have an impact on our Long Canyon Trail adoption.

I might know of a certified chainsaw operator that lives in the Reno area.

I'll check with him to see if he's interested and/or would have the time to help us out down the road with Long Canyon Trail adoption.

I have cleared the LC trail many times with a hand saw, an axe and tow strap. It is not usually that bad.
