FJ Cruisers of Northern California

So i'm at 91K and just got the 90K service done and the stealership says that my brakes need replacing and will gladly do it for me (just pads) for around $400. I said no way. So now I'm in the market for new brakes! I have 3mm on front pads and 5mm on rears and the rotors are not too far behind so I might as well replace them all at once. Does anyone recommend anything aftermarket? I do a lot of combination highway/city driving and try to get out and wheel at least once a month and will be more once I finish school.

Thanks for the help!

I got Gen Toyota OEM fronts on eBay for about $120 ($76/$44) rotors and pads. Haven't installed yet but I just went over 170K on my originals so it won't be long.

I scored some drilled and slotted rotors with ceraic pads off eBay for about $100 each end. The backs can be tricky but the process is pretty easy.

which ones did you get?

The difference is apparent.
Go with OEM parts and forget abouth any issues later, there is 2 kind of OE pads there is the factory ones and there is a service econo they both come in a toyota box but the factory have a better life and less noise isues, the other comes with fit kit but are a less quality and make noise at times, just reuse your old shims and use factory, they are abouth $10 more and the rotors get some cross drill or sloted just make sure they are straigth before install, got some pulsation due to rotor worpage wen they drill them, unless you are lucky and and get good ones, good luck

Is it really that common to get warped drilled/slotted out of the box?

NO

I got some cross drilled rotors from ebay one time and got a pulsation so needed to resurface them so it was tuff since I got to do all 4 all over again so every time I get cross drill rotors I put them on the brake lathe to check they are straight 80% of the time they are ok

Hey max you have seen the ones i got on instagram!

IMO OEM is great but the power stops have by far way better stopping power and if i were to do it all again i would in a heart beat.

Go through amazon or ebay tho i prefer amazon

Steve, if you need a hand with them. Give me a ping.

Just got back from the desert.  I'm good but Thank You.

Demello also offers a package  which includes front and rear slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads for $400
