FJ Cruisers of Northern California

I have new tires (finally!) on order and they should arrive next week or so - 285-75R/16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. They'll be mounted on the stock 16" rims that came with the truck (off-road package).

I also ordered 4 Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers to install as well.

I understand I won't need the BMC just for the new tire size, but will the addition of the spacers require getting it done?

If it makes any difference, I also have a Daystar 2.5 leveling kit installed.

Thanks !!!

I've had the same size tires & wheels as you for while now and find I rub at the body mount with the wheels turned when on trails. I've got MT's, but don't know if that makes a difference. I'm in need of a BMC.

You might be able to get away with just the tires but not the spacers. I believe with the spacers you will rub. I decided to get a BMC done and you wouldn't even know it was done.

I actually did a fitting today with the same tire. Except mine was a 295. It did hit the BM near full lock. I have Spidertrax on but when we pulled them off it didn't rub. I'll be getting a BMC soon so I can fill up my wheel well.

Ok... so if me and a few others want/need a BMC, could we set up a day and get a few of us done??

Where, who, when and how much IPA would be required  :-)

I had 33" on my last FJ with a 3 " lift and  1.25" spacers no Body Mount Chop issues (BMC)...didn't have any issues on the road doing U'eees or tight turns.  I did rub a bit when I was stuffing the front end while wheeling.

Let me know about the mod day...let's drink beer soon!

If it offers any insight, I mounted a set of DuraTracs (285/75R17) recently on my stock rig and rubbed on the body mount.
I opted for the stock size 265/70R17 instead given I was only gaining an 1" with the larger tire.
I like the tires. I lift maybe some day. I'm saving my pennies for skids first.
