Has anyone swapped the stock steering wheel for an after market one?

I'm curious to know about this too...

I would so much like to have a 4-things steering wheel instead of the three-things one that comes with the FJ. And maybe one where it's not so easy to press the honk when you are wheeling. I'd keep the airbag if possible... you never know, I've seen an accident where it was probably useful, as the driver did not have a seatbelt, and I do not know if after-market ones allow airbags...

No, but someone here had theirs re-wrapped. Look up NDA431FJr. He has pics of his redone. Very nice.

Re-wrapped steering wheel service by B&I Trim in San Diego. Order the re-wrapping service through CarID.com. Send you steering wheel to B&I, turn around is about 2-week.

My steering wheel in laminated wood/Red carbon fiber material and black leather.

BTW, I have  an  OEM leather steering wheel  that I would like to sell.

But how do you steer the car during the two weeks that they have your steering wheel?
you drive your gas saver!!

What I'm wanting to do is get rid of the stock steering wheel to get a 4 spoke GT steering wheel that is all metal and black.
I don't know if you could find someone who would take off the air bag permanently and put a GT wheel. I'm thinking it would be a liability, but maybe I'm wrong. Don't jerry rig it either. The air bags are deployed at such a high speed because they use jet fuel as the expulsion agent.

If you want, I'll wrap your steering wheel in silver duct tape and black electrical tape ;)
Ya I don't want to mess with it that's why I wanted to see if anyone else has done it. I've been in a bad wreck before and air bags didn't deploy and If I were to ever get in a wreck again (hopefully not) I want airbags!
Hahaha I like the redneck steering wheel idea though that's pretty funny!
Ya! Let me know... I'll "git her done" whatever that means. I'll even bring cardboard from a paper towel to make the 4th spoke.
Haha that would look so bad. Lol what's bad is I can see my friends and I doing that on our tractor!
