FJ Cruisers of Northern California

Hi all .....me again asking for advice.  Looking to put on the American Racing ATX series, Chamber Teflon's, on my rig with my soon to be installed ICON 3.5 inch stage one lift.  What would you think I should go with?  ICON suggests a  16" wheel with a 285 75 16 tire.  I don't want to do any body mount cutting/chopping.  Help?  I'd like to go 17's and maybe 18's will that work?  Going to look at the Toyo mud terrains for the meats.  Someone I would think has a similar set up.

Thanks

16" are the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would you put bigger rims? I mean why 18"? It makes no sense...
Looks!
Agree, 16" are better for off road. Wondering why 18" too? They may offer a better road ride, but I'm only guessing.
More sidewall on the tire right?
NOoooo...less sidewall on the tire.. The larger the wheel the less sidewall. The smaller the wheel the more sidewall. 15" is always preferred, unfortunately the a 15" wheel will not fit over our calipers, thus the next best thing is 16"...less diameter and more rubber. This will allow you to air down and have a less possibility that you will damage your rim. Larger rims will give you for a better ride quality and look nice on a mall crawler.. but if you plan on using the FJ for what it was meant for, look into 16s or stay with 17s.
Thanks....I checked into offsets of the 16 vs the 17's pertaining to the Chamber Teflons. it's 0mm on the 16's and -12 on the 17's. Am I correct in stating the 17's would make my tires/wheels stick out a bit off the fender flare? I want a litte bit of a wide stance...so if that is correct I guess I am going with the 17's.
