FJ Cruisers of Northern California
Hi guys,
if you had 12k to spend to upgrade your FJ cruiser for Road/Off-road trip, what would you do and why? I am new to off-road and to the FJ Cruiser family. I am use to camp/hike and road trip but i am not a mechanic guru! I have a 2010 FJ Cruiser Army Green stock with 30k on it. I'll appreciate any suggestion / help.
Thanks,
Pierre

tires, lift/bmc, sliders, skids, bumpers, winch, recovery gear, m-pac stuff, LED off-road lights....
Icon stage 6 long-travel suspension. $6000. BudBuilt and Total Chaos skids. $2000. Sliders $500. Front and rear bumpers $2000. Wheels and tires $1500.
You could also cheap out on the suspension and bumpers a little bit and get a Marlin crawl box with that money.
Well, if you do that, then you save about $3000 in lifting the IFS. I'm assuming a SAS runs about $3k parts and labor.
chance you are going for the SAS?? gonna do it yourself?
dude awesome! Give me the details! haha sorry for thread jacking
I would stick with IFS so I can go to the dunes still.
Total Chaos long-travel kit, full King suspension/shocks, 35" M/T's, supercharger, cold-air intake, new custom light bar for the roof, switch out all my lights to LED's, train horn, on-board air, and lots of goodies for the inside. Maybe even an interior rollcage.
but with 12k you can do a whole hell of a lot! Lets start with what you plan on doing with your rig, high speed? long travel. rocks? SAS. kinda in-between? long -travel or a solid icon/fox/king since you have the cash for the shiny stuff lol. then there are tires armor and any other goodies you can find. you will learn fast that this thing is a money pit and soon that 12k will slowly start to rise and rise as you keep adding on more and more stuff! keep us updated on what you are thinking!
