Details on campsite - restrooms showers fees? room for a teardrop and FJ? I have no camping gear so I need to figure out how to make the wife comfy ;)

I got a pm in regards to will a stock fj make it. My phone is being a pos so ill post here for all to see:
Yes a stock fj with skids (at least engine skid) will make it to the top of bald.
The trails I tend to run it will not but we will have leaders to lead easier trails that stock fjs could get through. MLM is stock and does just fine. Plenty of spotters and I or anyone else with trial expreince will spot you through anything that a stock fj can do if you feel the need for spotters.
Cb or hand held radios are pluses so we can stay in com incase one straggles back but we usually have a tail gunner who has a cb and all gear needed to get out of tight spots. Any questions feel free to post up here and I or others will assist you. Prob this weekend ill post up "essentials" that are needed for both trail and a fun camping experience

Theres definitely some good resources online for generic camping lists. Everyone that goes is super nice and helpful, so don't worry about looking stupid, better late than never to catch the camping bug! Hopefully I'll get to see you guys out there! I look forward to this event all year :)

Thanks for the explanation. I'm frantically researching all about outdoor stuff so that I don't look too stupid when I'm out there. Now I'm definitely positive I'm going. I'll be bringing my wife and cousin along for the ride. Looking forward to it!

For sure! I'll do my best to answer all your questions, but I'm sure the guys can fill in any gaps.

Gear: For the truck its a good idea to have a recovery strap and shackles in case you get stuck, but thats typically not a problem on this run. You can probably find a good gear list either in the forum here or on the blueroom.

Gear for camping is depending on what level of comport you want. My basic list is a tent, an air mattress, a sleeping bag and/or plenty of blankets (it does get chilly at night), a pillow, and a tarp to put the tent on and provide a little porch area to take off shoes. Other camping stuff would include a camp stove, ice chest with desired drinks (there is usually booze and merriment in the evenings), a camp chair, plates, utensils, trash bags, and a few jugs of water.

The area we usually camp in is about a 15 minute drink from the small town of Shaver as well as a small camp/country store so theres gas, air for tires, grocery stores, and places to get food (the pizza place is bomb and the local bar makes amazing burgers). Although on wheeling days people usually take sandwich stuff or easy food stuff to make on the trail, especially the day we go to watch the fireworks where we leave around noon (or so) and don't get back to camp well after dark and each both lunch and dinner on the mountain. Don't forget trail snacks, which can be great when we stop to play around on side-obstacles (as RJ mentioned, Hollywood Hill, V-rock, Posie, etc). You can come up any time and leave anytime, just be aware of when everyone is planning on leaving each day so that you don't end up coming to an empty camp. The campsite is super easy to get too, if you put these coordinates into google map, that is the general area we camp in: 37.076492, -119.180717

Hey MLM, I have some questions about the event if you don't mind.

I don't have any gear whatsoever or have any knowledge of what I should have/bring. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere? Emergency supplies, tools, etc.I would love to camp (would be my first time camping in a tent) but I don't have a tent. I might just see if I can rent one somewhere or find a decent one I can buy.

Are there amenities around the area to buy food/supplies? Just trying to wrap my head around what food I should potentially pack.

Is participation necessary for Thursday? At the moment I'm not sure whether I can make the drive on Thursday, but I can definitely do it on Friday. is it hard to get to the campsite if I have to go at it alone?

Thanks!

Also, I'd be willing to head the run to an easier location if I make it down, like I usually do to Courtwright. :-)

If I'm home from Humboldt I will definitely be there, if I end up working up here over summer, I'm still gonna try to make it down and maybe bring some friends with me. I will be doing my best to come down!
