FJ Cruisers of Northern California

ever since i joined the FJ forum in Japan and began corresponding with folks like paul, Toshiki and gur, i've been interested to see what types of mods and accessories accompany the FJC's introduction in Japan.

the other week, PBn'FJ told me about the different factory rack he saw/heard about and it was validated today when i received a nice package from paul. in the package were the introductory brochures and a cool DVD that i have yet to view.

so i thought i'd share some of the unique differences in accessories. i'm sure the aftermarket will grow just as it did here and i will share any info i come across. so far, most of the aftermarket mods are from the States.

some of the accessories can be found on the JAOS site.

Rack still looks pointless to mee.. But then again I hate the stock rack..

R those markers lights in the rear bumper or just paint??

Hey guys,

Just got off the phone with Kevin at Toyota One service and he says that he now shows a "supersedes number" on the rack.

He also says that they order out of L.A. but he is going to check if they have them.

I hope this is the rack because this looks differently cool but still very FJesque.

If they have one I'm going to take one for the team and order it. If I'm lucky I'll be able to get it installed by the Toe beer night at Lucky 13 and you all can check it out and jump up and down on it or whatever. : )

I wonder if it's an inch lower? That would be cool because the old rack would have kept me out of some of the under ground parking in San Jose....Hmmm?.

the profile looks a little lower in the photo, but according to the specs it is 256mm high or about 10" which makes it taller than the original. i measured my rack and it was about 8.5" at the base of the rear mount to the top of the rack. not sure that's where they make the measurement though.

Thats good to know.

Well I'm going to go for it.

We'll I ordered the rack.

Should be in in a couple of days.

"Gee whiz guys. I don't know, My mom and dad are gonna be awfully sore at me... but I don't wanna let down the team."

guinea pig.

looking forward to checking it out!

If I remember correctly, the FJ accessories (roof rack, rock sliders, and TT skid plates) come from a supplier in canada, and are port-installed in San Francisco. It would make sense that they would install a roof rack from a japanese supplier rather than ship the components from Canada.

different mounting hooks and cargo net.

Ooo those are marker lights in the rear bumper !! cool !!
my guess would be this is a bumper for FJs headed to Europe or other countries w/ wide license plates
good observation. i believe the Australian license plates are wide.
The mirror lights are gone, the rear door hinge is different (looks like Boz will have to do a new mount) the rims look good but the tires are low profile crap, and the rear bumper looks like it will be torn off at the 1st drop-off
