Wondering if anyone here has relocated the 2010+ cartridge filter from the bottom of the engine to a new location to allow a spin-on? Thats my next mod. Want to add skid plates and not worry about removing them every filter change.

Looks like a good place for the spin-on would be passenger side front where a 2nd battery would fit.

Seen lots of choices on Amazon, etc for about $170 including external oil cooler too.

Going to do this in about 5k miles/ 5 months, so any info would be great to read. Thanks.

That is something I've thought about doing too. a drain hose on the pan and relocating the filter, like anything industrial. I haven't looked into it too far but need to.

I will let you know how it turns out in a few months at next oil change.

Steve, Let me know how it works. I would love to do the same to Sonya.

Actually, I have been hitting a brick wall so to speak. Most relocation kits on the market seem to be for relocating a spin-on to another location, i.e. they have a center thread for the stud and an arrangement similar to a spin-on base. Will do more digging and asking around.

If I have to pay a machine shop to design and make one that might be cost prohibitive, maybe several hundred dollars. I may buy skids and hole-saw like a 5 inch hole then use a backing ring and make a round cover to fit and screw it in with a couple of flat head machine screws for access to that damnably placed filter holder.

So, I still have a plan A but now have a plan B. Anything to not have to remove skids every 8-10K.!!

Drum roll..........

They have a cartridge to spin on adapter and a cartridge to remote adapter. Now where am I going to fit it. The drain plug should be a piece of cake. A thread adapter and make up a hose with a cap. Any hydraulic shop should be able to do that.

Hold that drum roll cos I measured their adapter and its longer than stock and interferes with the skids.

They say they have a new one coming out soon, Ill let you know if its closer to the engine.

When this happens I am going to put the oil filter upside down (threads up) in the location of the 2nd battery mod, front passenger compartment, I don't need a 2nd battery.
