FJ Cruisers of Northern California
So I'm new to the FJC. My first IFS Toy, although I've had a first-gen Yoyo since it was new, and I've had an FZJ80 since it was new, too.
The difference between the FJC and my other Toys is that there is a lot of choice. Pretty much for the pickup, you just call Marlin, for the 80, you call Christo Slee.
But a million people are making stuff for the FJC. Lots of options for the FJC for the underbody. I'm leaning toward BudBuilt for the underbody skids, because I've gotten a couple of things for him for the pickup and they've been great. So I think that is kind of settled, although the shipping is horrific.
But I see that local cat BozTec makes a diff skid that lots of people rave about. Although it's a lot of cheese at 455 bones not including paint.
So, which way to go on the diff skid? The BudBuilt, along with his 5-piece chicken dinner, or the Boz for a couple hundred more?

I have a Boztec...It's taken a beating and still looks like new (with some scratches)
Love my Boztec Skid. I have beat it into the the rocks in Cali, Az, and Utah on hundreds of trails and it always wins + Boztec is a local company and you can go down and chat him up anytime
I am a big fan of the Boztec diff skid plate. I have hammered that thing several times and it has self healing powers like Wolverine! (with a rattle can)
The boztec diff skid is worth the money, but you can get deals if you look around. I paid no sales tax and no shipping on a deal last year at trdparts4u aka toyotaofdallas.com. look for deals.
Steve Hope.
I want a Boztec, I say we need to get a group buy going!
He does those frequently and it's just about time for another
I need a diff skid in the next two weeks before we head to Tahoe. I doubt BudBuilt could get one to me in that time.
Boztec is right down the street in Alameda! I'm sure you could pick up there and even have Bz install for you for a few beers if he isn't too busy lol
Alameda is $16 in gas away from me, so not exactly right down the street.
And I can do a field rebuild of a Birfield in the dark, so I'm kinda handy.
I'm just choking on the price a little. I still gotta take it over to Jeff at M's for a powdercoat, which will push it up to 5 bills.
they are primer powdercoated, all you need to do is shoot the color of your choice on it, give Boz a call
