FJ Cruisers of Northern California

We went to Pismo Beach and found out that FJ cruisers do fly, but, it may not be the best idea. Check out this link and listen for a very loud crunch when she lands. She is still in San Luis Obispo getting a new rear end. Since we're getting a new rear end, what the heck, she's also getting a new front set of gears too. With 35s she works a bit harder than she should, so we are fitting  her with 4:11s. See if you can hear the crunch  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb8YGlHyqfI&feature=youtube_gdat... I'm going back down on Friday and picking up my FJ and then I am heading to Santa Cruz to pick up my Tepui Tent for the top of my FJ. Looking forward to camping with my new toy.

Well, it's been a long week without my FJ, but, I drove down to San Luis Obispo today and picked her up. I listened to you UlySi and did some research and went with the 4:56s. Sooo nice. That was a 300 mile trip. I then drove it up to Santa Cruz and we installed my new tepui roof top tent, sweet!!!!! Check it out, it's the Autana @  www.tepuitents.com. Then off to Monterey with my lady Jen for the weekend to recover. So, the hurt is gone. I am really impressed with how well the 4:56s work on the street, can't wait to see how it works off the street.

I see that you have had your Tepui for a while and was wondering how you like it. I am getting ready to buy one in the next couple of weeks. Is it holding up well?

Was also wondering what kind of hit you took in mileage with the tent on the roof.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi there. The tent is holding up really well. A few scratches on the outside bottom, but, that was from an accident when a Mercedes rear ended me. That's the only blemish at all. We're hoping to get much more use out of it this summer, as I was down for a few months with a broken foot, so, it Really hasn't been used a whole lot yet. I've gotten to the point that I don't worry about gas mileage. I'm running 4.56.1 differentials and pushing 35 inch tires. On a good day, I may get around 12 mpg, but, that's me driving like me too. I think you'd like the Tepui tent. Service is good, and its local. Drop me a line if you'd like to talk tents.

Thanks for the reply...PM on the way.

Freaken awesome gotta meet up some time want to see if I want to go 6in and 35's or just keep my 3in and run 34's

What part of NorCal do you reside in. I'd love to get together and swap stories. I'm in Santa Rosa. I had a 3"Icon Lift with 33s, but everytime I went to the snow, I was the first to get stuck. I'm fircken done with that. I'd sit on my skid plates in the snow and that was a drag, literally, it's really nice not to now. I think you'd like the ride too.

I live in Sacramento .. Not to far from you. I have been looking at the fab tec 6 inch since I work for Schwab I can get a bit of a break on it. I love my 3 inch has gotten me over and through everything I have put in front of it this winter I will try some snow wheeling . Set up a wheeling trip and I will come out. You goin to the turf and surf this year??

Yikes, looks fun.

Way too much fun, but, next time, no throttle on the landings. My bad.

*cringe*

Hi John, That's kinda how I felt, but with a little more expression.
