Anyone ever remove a front fender?

I have not done it but it can't be that hard.

$725 is a ton of money. Read up on the directions on how to remove it and ask a friend to support you in the process. :o)

Hell I have never done it but let figure out a weekend and I will give ya a hand !! then you can help me paint my gray stuff some other time.. Oh yeah mark did you see what I was able to fine ???

A black out party would be great, I want to do my rear bumper pieces.

You know, that is NOT an bad idea. I called the local Maaco in Richmond and they quoted $250 to paint and install! I never considered about the Maaco's or Earl Schiebs. Considering the pinstriping on the rest of my truck, I don't think they could screw it too bad.

I've changed fenders, hoods, cowls and other body parts on other trucks that I've owned, but nothing on the FJC. Replacing a fender isn't hard, but it is time consuming and somewhat of a bitch to get the panels to lineup correctly. Make sure you cover all the edges of the body panel with a layer or two of blue painters tape before installing it. This will prevent some level of scratching from the fender hitting other body panels. You should also tape paper to the painted surface to prevent scratching during the install.

Most body shops will prime the fender off the vehicle, then install it and final color and clear coat the fender in place. This way they don't scratch the fender installing it afterward.

To save some money see if the body shop will let you take the fender off before taking it in for installation and paint. Then tell them you'll reisntall the turn signals, bumper and other parts yourself. That should save you a little.
