hmmm may just be the way the snow is packed into the MTs.

Hi Everyone,

I have a newbie question.  I've never driven in snow and was wondering whether I need snow chains when the condition requires all types of vehicles to equip them.  I'm planning on driving to Tahoe (just to get to the ski resorts, nothing off-road).  I have stock tires, but if and when I do need to put chains on them, do I put them on the rear wheels only or both?  Also, what is a good brand/type/model to get?  Thanks.

Any help is appreciated.  Nice pictures by the way!!!  It got me all excited.

Alex

Hey Alex,

Do you have a 4X4 or 2wheel drive?  If the answer is 4x4 you should be fine.  Just drive 25MPH and use the gears to slow down.  I usually put the FJ in 4x4 high at the snow control...slow will get you there safely.

John

Thanks for the fast response, FJ4 Tahoe!  That helped put my worries to rest.  I do have a 4x4 drive so I should be safe going slow on 4H.  Thanks again for the advice.

I don't know if the guy in the flatbed Toyota (pic #11) is affiliated with a member here, but my friend was up there that day and said that guy was riding his a$$, flashing his lights and honking at him.  Needless to say, he wasn't impressed with him at all.

Don't know the guy. He got stuck and we just lended him a hand. He was the same way aftrewards.

I figured that the FJ community wouldn't have any jerks like that!!!

Jerks come in all kinds of vehicles...mainly Hummers

Hey.......... I use to have a Hummer. The only flashing I ever saw was people flipping me the bird. I use to tell my young son they were just telling us we were #1. He's figured it out since then though.

Yeah. He had is lil daughter with him as well, so don't know why he was the way he was. Helped him out cause we help everyone out, especially when kids are involved.
