Hey Jens. Yup I got the RTT and an awning. I really like the combination. I wrote the company to inquire about an enclosure for the awning. They replied back to me today and said that they would send the enclosure and an extension for the "vestiblue"part of the tent (because I have so much lift, the vestibule doesn't  quite reach the ground). if I would send them a dozen or so good pics that they can use on their web site for advertisement. I think That's a good deal.

Forgot to ask, but I guess your tires made it home OK?

Honestly, I like the ARB a lot. Never had any problems with it and the fit and finish is first rate. I think it's probably the stoutest rear bumper available. The departure angle on it isn't as good as others, and it doesn't have the welded recovery points on either side, but it does have on in the middle.

The only reason I'm considering selling it is I'd like a swingout carrier. Leaning towards the Red Eye fab, but I'd like to see what Metal-Tech comes up with first on their list of "improvements".

Not too bad. It did take some patience though.

Looks promising. Still patches here and there in the snow but with the weather heating up, will be gone fairly soon.

Thanx for the offer of assistance. I took a break for dinner tonight, and Jen said the we have plans with some friends we're meeting for breakfast on Sunday at 1100, so, there goes the neighborhood. I just finished mounting my shower rack. It looks pretty good, I'm happy with it. I'm going to try to work on my exchanger this Saturday, if my canopy fits over the FJ. Sounds like a wet weekend. Have fun at the get together Sunday.

Hi Jens. I have been working every night in my garage on my shower and shower rack, compressor. All kinds of stuff. I have the compressor mounted. I got the shower rack back from being powder coated and I've built the mounting brackets, they're drying right now. I would like to actually mount everything before I go the group thing. I tried to hook up my exchanger, but I may have hooked up to the wrong hot water source after reading the thread. I did buy a plate heat exchanger and built a mounting bracket that mounts if really nicely on the fire wall. It looks really nice. Hopefully I'll be able to get it together this weekend. I would like to make the meet Sunday, but, I may be too busy with my install. Would like to get together sometime and find out info about others ideas. Thanx for dropping me a line.

Hi Jens. Thanx for the comments on my FJ. I'm looking forward to seeing your complete rig. I saw your pics and really like the trailer. I do like yourFJ too. I'm hoping for some time soon that I can get together with a group of FJCs to see what I can add or do to mine to make it a bit more complete. This weekend, I'm going to try to install my hot water shower. I made the hot water exchanger and have to hook it all up yet. Let me know when you're around Santa Rosa and we'll try to get together. Davy

Yeah no problem.  as for those radio recommendations the Yaesu VX-6R is a good handheld.  For a mobile i would look at the FT-8800 or FT-7900 both from yaesu.  the 8800 will give you the cross band repeat ability.  the 7900 is the most affordable dual band mobile out.

Hi all,

In case you haven't seen the updated event page, I wanted to contact everyone who's RSVP'd so far to my Install Day to let you know the date has changed from 3/19 to 3/26.  Sorry for the short notice, but I'm on a business trip (Oslo, Norway) that messed up the schedule.  Hopefully this day will work better for those who couldn't make the earlier date & will still work for those who were already planning to come out.

See you then,

John

Ya I think with the OME you do not need to do a sway bar relocation unless you clock the springs wrong.

Hey Jens i had another question.  What did you do about your sway bar on your lift?  did you use spacers to drop down the frame support bars so they do not hit the sway bar.   Been trying to figure out how that is going to impact the skids lining up.

Did it on my own.  Not hard at all.  Recommendations are as follows:

Trace the bolt holes first to get any dirt and paint out.

Test fit all of your bolts (I received the wrong size the first go round and it caused issues

Read all of the instructions first and plan which ones you are going to put on and in what order.  I did them over several days so I kept having to uninstall bolts to get the next one in.

Gas tank skid holes do not line up.  The bolts are on gas tank straps and when they are installed they can be in moved forward or back a bit.  The tank skid has very precise holes.  Yours may be perfect, mine needs to be altered.

A helper is helpful but it can be done with a knee and a jack :-).  some of the bolts seem too short and take a lot of help to get that first thread in.
